St. Louis, MO, USA - March 21, 2011 Whistlewind Productions presents "Night After Night:  The Words & Music of Al Hammerman," Friday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m.  The composer / lyricist / producer returns to the Sheldon Concert Hall stage in his fifth benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation ® of Missouri.

If you are tired of hearing the same old standards rehashed like some people, then you will love the new words and music of contemporary composer Al Hammerman night after night.  Performed by a 12-piece orchestra featuring St. Louis' finest vocalists Debby Lennon, Al Oxenhandler, Arvell Keithley, Kim Fuller, and the St. Louis Muny Kids, Hammerman's original songs capture the hearts and imagination of each listener.

"While I enjoy and appreciate much of the 'tamer' pop and contemporary music scene, I am also drawn to the style of 'standards' that make up the great American song book.  The trick is to combine the best of both worlds," Hammerman says.  "I find that a good memorable melody, as well as meaningful and sometimes clever lyrics, usually go hand-in-hand in making for a good song.

With the debut of nine (9) additional new songs, the words and music of Al Hammerman are quickly becoming a part of the great American song book.  According to Derek Sivers, founder of the largest online distributor of independent music, "If Al was around to write songs for Sinatra, we would've been blessed with at least a few more hits."

Guests are invited after the show to a complimentary wine and cheese reception courtesy of Kasper-Steck Financial Advisors.  The reception features an exciting raffle from Tiffany & Co. who has generously donated three fabulous items to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation ® of Missouri.  Raffle items include a sterling silver diamond necklace, earrings, and Breakfast at Tiffany's for 10 people!  An Apple iPad2 will also be a raffle item.

Tickets for "Night After Night:  The Words and Music of Al Hammerman" are $50 (Wish Patron), $75 (Wish Supporter), $100 (Wish Star; includes Tiffany raffle), and $15 for students with valid I.D.  Tickets are 100% tax deductible, and all profits benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Missouri.  The foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

About Al Hammerman

A composer, radiologist, Washington University educator, collector of antique musical instruments, Al Hammerman is a modern day Renaissance man who is never bored and rarely at a loss for inspiration.

Although a composer for many years, only recently has Al Hammerman's music become accessible to the general public. On faculty at Washington University, Hammerman has worked on projects with the performing arts department as well as lent assistance to area theater groups and one Off Broadway musical theater production. He even did a short free lance advertising stint as a jingle writer.

Called both contemporary and classic, many of Hammerman's charming melodies and clever lyrics quickly capture the heart and imagination of the listener; songs meant to be remembered and endure.

All of Al's St. Louis area music efforts have gone towards raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Missouri. A relationship that "all started with a song" and that has allowed him to gain a much greater meaning and pleasure from his musical endeavors.
